2025 Competition Recap
First and foremost, thank you to all our sponsors, with whom none of this would have been possible.

We had 84 anglers registered for the tournament this year and 14 teams. The weather was challenging with swells of up to 2 meters in certain locations. Everyone one who entered the tournament managed to get out and fish. The winning snapper came from areas closer to the east cape, with the winning trevally coming out from the Tauranga Harbor.

2024 Comp Recap
Hi club members, just a quick email to acknowledge that a successful annual comp was achieved last Saturday (Saturday, April 27th, 2024). 90 entrants all up, our 2nd best comp in terms of numbers. The weather is the main factor on these occasions and the conditions on Saturday were generally kind to us apart from tricky conditions at low tide coming back in around 1-3pm. The Ohope Charter club proved to be a great venue again with Gibbo’s filleters outside filleting fish and raising $ for Coastguard.
All the species were caught except for the Tuna. 140 fish were weighed in and their combined weight was 270kg. The main Spot prize of a Viking Reload kayak was won by Luke Bryenton from Tauranga and as his luck would have it he was the yakker that had won the Reload in our last comp 2023, go figure!
Big shout out to all our sponsors, so generous and help make this comp one of the best in the country. Thanks to all the clubbies and others who helped with different aspects of the comp from setting up the spreadsheet, webpage, engaging with sponsors, setting up the stage, weighing fish, collecting all the vital data, cleaning up including ensuring little to no waste of fish heads/frames all got used.
